Participants: Pat D, Becky U, Carol E, Pam J, Jeannie E, Carol D, Christina S and Sandy E, plus our travel dolls. On Friday we arrived in Pittsburgh at the Wydham Grand Hotel located right on the point of the three rivers. At registration we received a beautiful zippered bag which included an Evangeline cloak welcome gift.
Friday Night Dessert– Sad, Sad Halloween (Sad Sally)
Trick or treat! We joined Sad Sally for evening dessert at our welcome event. Many arrived wearing a costume and participated in a Costume Contest – the categories were: Scary, Funny, Glamorous, Most Original and Don’t Ever Go Anywhere Wearing That. Also we took home the very first American debut of Tonner’s Sindy: a British fashion doll icon from the 1960s. We had a howling good time! Even with Robert’s corny Halloween jokes.
Saturday Brunch – Christmas In Ipswich (Evangeline)
We joined Evangeline, Parnilla and a NEW character, Angelique. At our seats were black lace pillow favors with an image of Evangeline in a cemetary. We decked the halls with festive and imaginative holiday finery. A little strange in October. After brunch we enjoyed the annual guest participant talent show, which included ballet, singing and poetry.
Saturday Banquet – It’s a Vintage New Year! (Ellowyne)
We rang in the New Year with Ellowyne, Lizette and Prudence at a very WILDE New Year’s Eve bash! Many donned semi formal vintage fineries or sparkly outfits and we all toasted to the New Year, complete with countdown and noisemakers. After dinner we received our convention souvenir, Time Goes By Ellowyne dressed in a very pretty party dress. Then Table 10 got up and boogied with a DJ to dance the night away! This was followed by the awarding of the raffle items and table 10 got our share of lucky recipients.
Sunday Breakfast – SEW Sweet! (Amelia)
It’s Valentine’s Day! Cupid’s faithful assistants Amelia, Hamish and Izzy made a sweet centerpiece. At our seats were favors of a tiny box of valentine toys. Also on our table was a bag of supplies for making one big valentine. Every table was cutting and gluing feverishly with plenty of laughter. After our brunch, the competition awards were presented and the judges chose a valentine winner. Then we said good-bye to a wonderful weekend.
Along with all these activities were vendor sales, Tonner sales, many raffle items, competition, special exhibit and workshops. No wonder we were so tired!
Thank you Pat D. for your pictures and summary of events!
